Andrew Behar
Andrew Behar is interim CEO of As You Know and the CEO of As You Sow, the nation’s leading non-profit practitioner of shareholder advocacy and engagement. With a 30-year track record of success, As You Sow advances values-aligned investing and uses shareholder power to compel companies to reduce material risk on issues including climate change; toxins in the food system; ocean plastics; diversity, equity, and inclusion; racial justice; and wage equity. Previously Andrew was a documentary filmmaker and entrepreneur founding start-ups developing an innovative physiological monitoring medical device and grid-scale fuel cells. He is on the board of the Responsible Sourcing Network and a member of the XPrize Brain-Trust for Abundant Energy. His book, The Shareholders Action Guide: Unleash Your Hidden Powers to Hold Corporations Accountable, was published in November 2016 by Berrett-Koehler.
Geoff Haynes
Geoff Haynes was a partner at Shartsis Friese LLP, a San Francisco boutique law firm, specializing in federal and state income tax law. He served as the chair of the firm's charitable contribution committee, and was instrumental in establishing an annual fellowship for recent law school graduates to work for non-profit organizations, and scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend college. He also was the chair of the firm's pro bono committee and frequently represented non-profit organizations on a pro bono basis. He was the President and Treasurer of the Family Violence Law Center, a non-profit legal organization that obtains restraining orders for victims of domestic violence, and received the organization’s first lifetime achievement reward. As an avid nature lover, he has almost fulfilled his goal of attending all of the National Parks in the United States. He received a B.A., M.A. and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Cecily Joseph
Cecily Joseph is a nonprofit and advisory board member, lawyer and sustainability executive recognized as a thought leader and influencer in social and environmental responsibility, ethics and diversity. Cecily is the former Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at cybersecurity company Symantec Corporation, where she oversaw all environment, social and governance (ESG) programs, and led the Symantec Foundation. Cecily is an ongoing champion for diversity and inclusion, having also served as Chief Diversity Officer and pioneering numerous initiatives to increase diversity and equity within the technology industry and broader society.
Cecily has held various corporate leadership roles in her 30 year corporate career and has built and managed programs and teams in ethics and compliance, strategic philanthropy, community relations, environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion. Cecily currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mercy Corps and Net Impact, and is Adjunct Faculty and Advisor, Initiative for Equity and Social Justice, at Presidio Graduate School.
Cecily received the CEDAW Award for Human Rights from the City of San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, recognition as one of the Multicultural Leaders of California by the National Diversity Council, and as one of the Most Influential People in Business Ethics by the Ethisphere Institute. Cecily holds a J.D. from Tulane University Law School and received her B.A. from the University of Miami.
Brady Quirk-Garvan
Brady Quirk-Garvan works with a select group of individuals to determine the best path for investing and then directs their resources to drive the change they seek. Brady works to break the siloed thinking that can exist with multiple managers and instead show clients how personal spending, philanthropy and investments can work together to create real change in our world. This holistic approach is critical for those who want to use their financial resources to create change
Growing up in a household that regularly talked about – and practiced – socially responsible investing, financial planning, and community investing, it’s no surprise that he ended up being drawn to work with the team at Natural Investments over a decade ago.
Brady attended the College of Charleston, where he had the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in Havana, Cuba, participating in a unique program focused on politics and social movements in Latin America. This spurred an interest in politics, which led to working in professional politics including on President Obama's 2008 campaign.
Brady lives in Charleston, SC with his partner Angela and their daughter Mae. He serves on several local non-profit boards. Additionally Brady serves as an advisor to the Kachuwa Impact Fund and is the Treasurer of Green America.
Meme Scherr
Meme Scherr is the current CFO at Aclima, a purpose-driven technology company pioneering an entirely new way to measure and analyze air quality data and greenhouse gas emissions. Aclima translates billions of scientific measurements from its network of stationary and roaming sensors into environmental intelligence for governments, businesses, and communities.
Proven track record in building businesses, raising institutional assets and driving strong revenue growth at both start ups and large established enterprises. Multi-cultural, inclusive leader with expertise in building and leading high-performing teams and driving growth initiatives.
Most recently, Meme was a Partner, Head of Business Development, and Chief Operating Officer of Sensato Investors, an Asian equity hedge fund. At its peak, Sensato managed assets of over $2bn. Prior to starting Sensato, Meme held positions at Goldman Sachs and Mellon Capital. Meme invests in early-stage tech and healthcare companies with Plum Alley and is an advisor to the Donor Advised Funds at Impact Assets for Plum Alley, The 22 Fund, and thirdACT. She advises and coaches under-represented founders and is an advocate for women, children, education and economic mobility. Meme is an advisory board member of Kanarys, a founding member of Extraordinary Women on Boards (EWOB) and a volunteer with Full STEAM Forward, Room to Read, Slide Ranch and TGR Foundation. Meme has an MBA from the University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School and a BS from Syracuse University.
